About

Most visitors to Kasai Rinkai Park head for the Ferris wheel, aquarium and beach; birders head the other way. The Choruien (bird park) occupies the eastern part of the park by the mouth of the Kyu-Edogawa, with a freshwater pond, a brackish lagoon connected to the tides, reed beds and woodland. A two-storey Watching Center with telescopes and staff on hand overlooks the lagoon, and wooden hides line the paths. In winter you can see ducks, cormorants and waders by the hundred; spring and autumn bring migrating shorebirds; kingfishers are regulars. Entry is free and its blissfully quiet, with Disneys skyline across the river.
