About

Eiko Kadono, the Edogawa-raised author of Majo no Takkyubin (Kikis Delivery Service), lent her name and imagination to this museum, which opened in November 2023 on a low hill in Nagisa Park overlooking the bay. Kengo Kuma designed the white building with a "flower roof" of petal-like eaves, and art director Rio Kuboshima filled the interior with Kadonos signature "ichigo-iro" strawberry pink. Inside youll find a recreation of Koriko, Kikis seaside town, with a bakery facade and Kikis room; walls of around 10,000 picture books and childrens books to read on the spot; reading nooks; a cafe; and a small theatre for readings. Its aimed at children but adults who grew up on the Ghibli film will be delighted.
