About
Approach Osaka Castle from Tanimachi 4-chome and stop at the western outer moat before the bridge: the Otemon gate and Sengan Yagura turret, both Important Cultural Properties from the 1620s rebuilding, rise above massive stone walls reflected in the water. Morning light hits the front of the walls; inside the gate, look for the huge cut stones of the Masugata enclosure. It is a strong alternative to the usual main-tower shot.
Highlights
- Edo-period gate and turret over the moat

Tips
