About
The southern outer moat is one of the most dramatic stone-wall views at Osaka Castle and far quieter than the main approach. Walk along the moat path and shoot east or west for long lines of curved stone walls dropping into the water, with the surviving Rokuban Yagura turret as the focal point. Cherry trees and plum blossom along the bank add seasonal colour, and late afternoon light warms the walls.
Highlights
- Long sweeps of curved stone walls over the moat
- Rokuban Yagura, one of the castle's surviving turrets
- Quiet compared with the main gate
- Seasonal blossom along the bank
Tips
- The moat path is good for a sunset walk toward Otemon.
- A telephoto compresses the wall curves nicely.
- Keep clear of runners on the outer moat path.
