Umegaoka Sushi no Midori Sohonten 梅丘寿司の美登利 総本店
The original Umegaoka branch of Tokyo's favourite value sushi chain: giant anago that hangs off the plate, generous sets and the classic local queue.
Typical dinner spend: ¥3,500
About
Sushi no Midori began in the residential Setagaya neighbourhood of Umegaoka and grew into one of Tokyo's most-loved value sushi chains famous for oversized toppings, especially the whole conger eel draped far beyond the rice. The sohonten (head store) beside Umegaoka Station is the original, with a local, unpretentious feel and long but fast-moving queues. It is a fun detour on the Odakyu Line for those who want the 'real' Midori experience away from the department-store branches.
