About

Torifusa has been a poultry shop in Tateishi for some 80 years, and its famous wakadori hanmi-age, a half young chicken deep-fried whole, is sold from the front counter to locals taking it home and served in the small izakaya at the back. Staff tear the bird apart for you at the table, and you eat with your hands alongside cabbage and beer. The shop is credited with starting the half-chicken karaage boom. Space is tight, regulars are many and house rules are firm (order the chicken, dont stay too long), but this is Tateishi drinking at its purest.
