About
The statue of Tora-san with his suitcase was erected in 1999 with donations from local shopkeepers and visitors, recreating the scene where he looks back at Sakura as he leaves on another journey. A statue of Sakura seeing him off was added later. It marks the start of the Taishakuten-sando shopping street.
