About
Founded in 1887, this shop on the approach to Taishakuten was where the first Otoko wa Tsurai yo films shot their scenes of Tora-sans familys dango shop before the set moved to the studio; for a while it even renamed itself "Toraya" in the films honour. Today it continues as a sweet shop and eatery, serving kusa-dango, anmitsu and simple meals in a dining room full of film memorabilia, and selling dango and souvenirs out front. Fans come to sit where the story began.
