About
Shijo-dori is Kyoto's largest shopping district, centred on the Shijo-Kawaramachi crossing with Takashimaya and Daimaru department stores and international fashion brands. East of the Kamo River the street turns into Gion, with shops selling Kyoto sweets, pickles and crafts up to Yasaka Shrine. Covered sidewalks make it usable in rain, and the Teramachi and Shinkyogoku arcades branch off it.
