About
Iwashimizu Hachimangu was founded in 860 to protect the capital from the southwest and has been honoured by emperors and samurai alike. Its vermilion and gold main hall complex is designated a National Treasure. A short cable car climbs the wooded hill from Keihan's station. Paths on the summit lead to a lookout over the Kyoto basin.
