About

Musouen sits on the southern slope of the Yufuin basin, across the river from the town centre, and its outdoor baths are the classic Yufuin postcard: wide rock pools of clear water with Mt. Yufu's double peak rising directly ahead. The men's Gomuso no Yu looks straight at the mountain; the women's Kukai no Yu is a vast 150-tatami-sized pool with its own women-only outdoor area. Day bathing (higaeri nyuyoku) is offered in a fixed late-morning window, with one bath drained and cleaned daily in rotation, so the line-up you get varies. A taxi from Yufuin Station takes about 5 minutes.
