About
Ume no Koen was long one of the Kanto region's best-known plum gardens until plum pox virus forced every tree to be cut down in 2014. Replanting began in 2016 and about 1,200 trees now cover the slope again, with rape blossoms, daffodils and azaleas adding colour. The surrounding Yoshino Baigo area along the Tama River has more plum groves and teahouses.
Highlights
- About 1,200 replanted plum trees on a hillside
- Views over the Tama valley
- Rape blossoms and daffodils in early spring
- Ome Plum Festival in the surrounding area
Tips
- Trees are still young, so blossoms are lighter than before 2014
- Combine with the Mitake Valley or Kamanofuchi Park on the same line
