About

Ome Railway Park was opened in 1962 by Japanese National Railways to mark 90 years of railways in Japan. After closing in 2023 for a thorough renovation, it reopened on 21 March 2026, run by JR East. It now displays 13 vehicles. The star is No. 110, a tank engine built in Britain in 1871 that ran on Japan's first railway between Shimbashi and Yokohama, and the ranks include D51 and C11 steam locomotives, a Shinkansen 0-series car and, new in 2026, a classic orange 201-series Chuo Line commuter train. They now stand under covered roofs. The park sits on a hill above Ome, a town famous for its retro Showa film-poster streets. It is a short, steep walk from Ome Station.
