About
Monjayaki is Tokyo's own downtown snack: a loose batter of dashi and flour with cabbage, mentaiko, mochi, cheese or seafood, cooked on a teppan into a crispy-gooey mess you eat straight off the grill with a mini spatula (hagashi). Tsukishima's Nishinaka-dori is lined with dozens of monja shops, many family-run for generations. Staff will cook the first one for you if you ask. Okonomiyaki is served too.
