About

Opened in 2012, the Tokyo Gate Bridge crosses the outer harbour with two great steel trusses that locals nicknamed the dinosaur bridge for their shape. Wakasu Seaside Park on its northern landfall is the photographers' base: from the western seawall and fishing promenade you see the full span, lit in white (with seasonal colours) from sunset to midnight. On clear days from autumn to spring Mount Fuji appears to the west, and around 23-24 October and 18-19 February the sun sets right on Fuji's summit from here (Diamond Fuji), drawing rows of tripods. Planes from Haneda cross the sky, ships pass under the span, and you can also walk on the bridge itself during the day.
