About

Takiyama Castle was a mountain castle of the Hojo clan built on a ridge above the Tama and Aki rivers, and is regarded as one of the best-preserved medieval earthwork castles in Japan. Its dry moats, earthen ramparts and baileys can be followed on forest trails. It was selected for the Continued Top 100 Japanese Castles in 2017, and a stamp is kept at the Naka-no-maru enclosure.
