About
The Koshu-kaido ginkgo avenue stretches from the Oiwake crossing in central Hachioji to Takao Station. Its 763 trees were planted in 1929 to commemorate the building of Emperor Taisho's mausoleum nearby, and they turn a deep yellow in the second half of November. Since 1979 residents have held the Ichou Matsuri festival under the trees.
