About

Takeshiba Pier is Tokyos gateway to its own islands: overnight ferries and jetfoils sail from here to Oshima, Hachijojima and, once a week or so, 24 hours south to Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands. Around the passenger terminal a long boardwalk deck runs along the bay, with benches looking out at Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba and the Harumi towers, and a plaza built around a tall ships mast and rigging that is illuminated in the evening. The redevelopment of the area (Tokyo Port City Takeshiba and WATERS takeshiba next door) added a riverside promenade and a restored tidal flat facing Hama-rikyu Gardens. It is a short walk from Hamamatsucho and makes a relaxing stop before or after a Sumida river cruise.
