About

Built to give Ota residents back a piece of the coast lost to reclamation, this ward park has a curving artificial beach of real sand, tidal flats where children hunt crabs and gobies at low tide, a boardwalk, showers and beach volleyball courts. Swimming is not allowed, but paddling is, and on summer weekends it has a genuinely seaside feel despite the expressway and warehouses nearby. It sits on the approach path for Haneda, so aircraft cruise past at low altitude, and the Omori Nori Museum next door explains why this shoreline matters. In the evening the lights of the airport and the Tokyo Monorail add a quietly cinematic backdrop.
