Oi Racecourse (Tokyo City Keiba) 大井競馬場(東京シティ競馬)
Tokyo's local night-racing track: under floodlights at 'Twinkle Races', thoroughbreds thunder past a waterfront grandstand, with ¥100 entry, food stalls and a lively after-work crowd.
About
Oi pioneered night racing in Japan in 1986 under the 'Twinkle Race' banner, and 2026 marks its 40th season. Run by the Tokyo metropolitan racing association rather than the national JRA, it races on dirt mostly on weekdays from spring to December, with the last races going off after dark under bright lights. Entry is just ¥100, the stands are close to the track, and there are plenty of food stalls and bars, making it a fun, inexpensive evening out even if you only place a couple of ¥100 bets. Big days such as the Tokyo Daishoten on 29 December draw huge crowds. It's a few minutes from Oi Keibajo-mae Station on the Tokyo Monorail between Hamamatsucho and Haneda Airport, so it even works on an arrival or departure day.
