About
Few hotel bars are as famous as the New York Bar, set at the top of Kenzo Tange's Shinjuku Park Tower under the hotel's glass pyramids. Sofia Coppola filmed Lost in Translation here, and after a restoration led by Jouin Manku the room reopened in December 2025 with its signature black-and-chrome look and the long walls of glass intact. Live jazz plays every evening, and on clear days Mount Fuji appears beyond the city. Cocktails and whisky are expensive and a music charge applies after 20:00, but arriving at 17:00 for sunset is one of Tokyo's classic experiences.
