Kamata Bourbon Road 蒲田 バーボンロード
Despite the name, a strip of tiny Showa-era taverns, snack bars and yakitori counters running along the Tokyu tracks from Kamata's west exit: south Tokyo's answer to Omoide Yokocho without the tourists.
About
Officially the Tokyu Kamata Ekimae-dori, the lane nicknamed Bourbon Road follows the Tokyu viaduct north from the west exit, its lanterns and neon signs glowing under the passing trains. There is surprisingly little bourbon: instead it is packed with old taishu sakaba, stand-up bars, oden and yakitori counters, and snack bars run by mama-san, including one claimed to be the oldest in Kamata. Kamata, once home to the Shochiku film studios, still has a working-town character, and drinking here is cheap, chatty and very local. It works best as a crawl: a beer and skewers at one counter, a highball at another, then gyoza across the tracks.
