Shin-Osaka Station 新大阪駅
Osaka's Shinkansen gateway: Tokaido and Sanyo bullet trains, the Midosuji subway and the sprawling Eki Marche food and souvenir arcade under one roof.
About
Every Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen stops here, from Nozomi to Kodama, plus Kyushu-bound Mizuho and Sakura. The station is a self-contained world: the 3F concourse links Shinkansen and JR local lines; Eki Marche and the newer Alde shopping zones pack in 551 Horai butaman, Rikuro cheesecake and Osaka souvenirs; and the Midosuji subway delivers you to Umeda in 6 minutes and Namba in about 15. Watching N700S trains glide in at the long platforms is a quiet joy for rail fans.
