About

Kukuru has been one of Dotonbori's signature takoyaki names since the 1980s, recognizable by the huge red octopus sign hanging over the canal-side street. Its takoyaki are larger and softer than average, made with a dashi-rich batter and a substantial cube of octopus. The shop has both a takeaway window and a small sit-down restaurant at the back, where you can also order akashi-yaki style takoyaki dipped in broth, and the showpiece 'Bikkuri Takoyaki' (surprise takoyaki), a single giant ball stuffed with a long octopus tentacle that must usually be ordered in advance by phone or at the counter.
