About
Dobutsuen-mae on the Midosuji and Sakaisuji lines is the closest subway stop to Shinsekai and Tsutenkaku. The station itself has a coin-operated bank by the East Gate toward Exit 2. Around Shinsekai there are many small private locker banks open 24 hours, including one by the Mega Don Quijote Shinsekai entrance at Exit 5, one under a net cafe just south of Tsutenkaku and one by the Shinsekai gate on the Sakaisuji side, with small, medium and a few large units for cash. Prices at these private banks tend to be a little lower than in the station.
Highlights
- Subway lockers by the East Gate
- Lots of 24-hour street lockers around Shinsekai
- Minutes to Tsutenkaku and Jan-Jan Yokocho
- Cash-only private banks are slightly cheaper
Tips
- Street lockers in Shinsekai accept only coins and 1,000-yen notes; carry change
- Large units are scarce; Tennoji has more
- Most lockers are cleared after 3 days and the contents go to the station lost-property office, so don't use them for multi-day storage
