Takayasu (Ichijoji) 高安
The headliner of Ichijoji's 'ramen street', where students queue for creamy tonkotsu-chicken broth and the crisp, juicy karaage served alongside.
About
Ichijoji in northern Kyoto has the city's greatest concentration of ramen shops, thanks to the nearby universities, and Takayasu has been its most famous since the late 1990s. The broth blends pork and chicken into a rich, creamy soup with a touch of soy, served with thin noodles, chashu and plenty of green onion. The karaage (fried chicken) is famous in its own right. It is open late, so it doubles as a post-izakaya stop for locals.
