Tentenyu (Honten) 天天有 本店
One of Ichijoji's original ramen shops, dating to 1971: a creamy but gentle chicken-and-pork "Kyoto kotteri" broth that helped make this neighbourhood a ramen street.
Chashu ramen (regular): ¥800
About
Long before Ichijoji became Kyoto's ramen battleground, Tentenyu was here, one of the Ichijoji pioneers serving Kyoto for decades. Its honten serves a milky, rounded soup of chicken and pork bones that is rich without the heaviness of harder-hitting kotteri shops, topped with thin chashu, green onion and menma. Portions are counted in noodle balls (regular, 1.5, double) and prices remain modest. Locals and food bloggers call it the origin of the Ichijoji ramen walk.
