About
Ine's funaya are two-storey wooden houses with boat garages on the ground floor opening straight onto the sea, lining the curve of Ine Bay. They were built to haul fishing boats out of the water, with storage or rooms above, and most families live in main houses across the road. The bay is so sheltered that the houses appear to float. Sightseeing boats and water taxis give the classic view from the water.
