Demachi Masugata is a compact covered street near the meeting of the Kamo and Takano rivers, the inspiration for the anime 'Tamako Market', whose character banners hang along it. It has a mix of old greengrocers, fishmongers, a sake shop, and small cafes and bars. At the entrance on Kawaramachi is Demachi Futaba, home of Kyoto's most famous mame-mochi. The Kamogawa Delta's stepping stones are a short walk away.
