About
Camellia runs tea ceremony experiences in Kyoto, with the Flower Teahouse in a traditional house on a lane off Ninenzaka, in the heart of Higashiyama. Sessions are led in English by hosts trained in the Urasenke tradition, who explain the history and meaning of the gestures, prepare tea in front of you, and then help you whisk your own bowl of matcha, accompanied by seasonal sweets. Shared sessions are a good introduction, and private sessions are available in the Flower Annex. The Garden Teahouse near Ryoan-ji is a quieter, more exclusive option with a private garden.
