Yamatonoyu is a polished super-sento built around natural hot-spring water that is soft on the skin, with indoor and outdoor baths, sauna and restful lounges, all designed in a dark-timber Japanese-modern style. Children below elementary-school age are not admitted, which keeps it quiet, and the men's and women's baths swap on alternate days so repeat visitors see both sides. There are restaurants and relaxation areas for a long stay and bookable private open-air baths. It suits a long layover or the day before an evening flight, when a soak and a nap are worth more than another sight.
