Sakatagaike Park 坂田ヶ池総合公園
A free lakeside park built around a 5-hectare pond in north-west Narita, with a floating footbridge full of carp, dragon-shaped play structures and a 78 m roller slide, next door to Boso no Mura.
About
Laid out in 1989 around Sakatagaike pond, this park is a favourite local escape: a floating footbridge crosses the middle of the water where large carp gather, and play structures shaped like a big and small dragon recall the rain-dragon legend of nearby Lake Inba. Kids head for the 78 m roller slide. There is a fishing area and a bookable campsite with day-camp barbecues, and the park joins on to the Boso no Mura open-air museum and Boso Fudoki no Oka burial mounds to the north, so it is easy to make a half day of it.
