About
This park occupies the site of the Hakone Detached Palace, an imperial summer retreat opened to the public in 1946. Walking trails cross the Tonogashima peninsula between Moto-Hakone and Hakone-machi, and a palace-style lookout gives views over Lake Ashi to Mount Fuji. It is a nationally registered monument and one of Japan's 100 historic parks.
