About

The Takarazuka Revue, founded in 1914, performs elaborate musicals in which women play all roles, including the dashing male leads. Each Tokyo run usually pairs a musical or drama with a glittering song-and-dance revue finale complete with the famous grand staircase. The current theatre was rebuilt in 2001 on the site of the original 1934 building.
