About

Hibiya is Toho's headquarters district, and Godzilla has had a statue here since 1995. The current figure, unveiled in 2018 in the newly named Godzilla Square in front of Hibiya Chanter, is modelled on the creature from 2016's 'Shin Godzilla', complete with its jagged dorsal plates and long tail, and stands 3 m tall on a pedestal engraved with the series' history. It's a pilgrimage stop for kaiju fans, sitting among Hibiya's cinemas and theatres including the Toho Cinemas Hibiya complex in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya across the road.
