About

The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza opened in early 2024 with 86 rooms, about a third the size of its Toranomon sibling, on a side street behind Ginza's flagship department stores. Kengo Kuma again designed it with Ian Schrager, and the result is more intimate: a ground-floor lobby of pale wood and greenery, and a staircase leading to the second-floor Punch Room, a clubby lounge where punches are mixed in front of you in traditional bowls. Sophie at EDITION, the signature brasserie, has green velvet chairs, lots of plants and a seasonal French menu built on Japanese produce. At the top, The Roof serves natural wine with an open view down the Ginza rooftops to Tokyo Tower. The rooms have Japanese-inspired minimalism with light oak and soft textiles. It is a useful stop for shoppers: a drink here is calmer than anywhere on Chuo-dori itself.
