About

Indian has been cooking near Hasunuma Station on the Tokyu Ikegami Line since 1953, and its name tells you the menu: Takeda-school 'old-style' curry rice and shina soba, the term Tokyo used for ramen before the war. The shina soba is a clear, gentle shoyu bowl with thin noodles, while the curry is a thick, roux-style Japanese curry of a kind that is fast disappearing. Many regulars order both, or a half-size of one. It is a true local's place in Ota Ward, far from tourist routes, and a living example of how ramen once shared a counter with yoshoku comfort food.
