Super Potato Akihabara スーパーポテト 秋葉原店
Three floors of retro video games, Famicom, Super Famicom, Game Boy, PC Engine, Sega Saturn, plus a tiny top-floor arcade of 1980s and '90s cabinets. A pilgrimage for anyone who grew up with a controller.
About
Super Potato occupies floors 3 to 5 of the Kitabayashi Building, a short walk from Akihabara Station. The shelves are a museum you can buy from: boxed Famicom carts, mint Super Famicom RPGs, Virtual Boys, Game & Watch handhelds, consoles in rare colours and vintage merch. Prices are collector-level rather than bargains, but condition is good and region-specific Japanese releases are plentiful. The 5F retro arcade has machines from the Space Invaders era through to Street Fighter II, at ¥100 a play, and a vending machine of nostalgic sweets.
Highlights
- Glass cases of boxed Famicom and Super Famicom games
- Game Boy, Virtual Boy, PC Engine and Saturn hardware
