About

Opened in 1993, Rainbow Bridge carries the Shuto Expressway on its upper deck and the Yurikamome driverless train and a local road on the lower deck, with a pedestrian Rainbow Promenade running along both outer edges. Walking across from Shibaura (Tamachi side) to Odaiba takes about 30 minutes and gives superb views: the North Route looks at the Tokyo Tower and central skyline, the South Route at the port, Odaiba and the Fuji TV building. Elevator towers at each end lift you from street level. At night the towers glow white, powered by solar energy collected during the day, and are lit in rainbow colours for special occasions. For the classic postcard view, stand on Odaiba Seaside Park's beach as the lights come on.
