Rainbow Bridge from Daiba Park 台場公園(第三台場)からのレインボーブリッジ

The grassy island of an 1853 gun battery sits right under the Rainbow Bridge, giving a low, close angle on the bridge's towers and cables with the Tokyo skyline behind, quieter than the beach crowd next door.

About

Daiba Park is the Third Daiba, one of the artificial island batteries built in 1853 to defend Edo after Perry's Black Ships arrived. Its earthen ramparts, cannon emplacements and stone walls are now a free park connected to Odaiba by a causeway. From its northern ramparts the Rainbow Bridge fills the frame, its white towers and swooping cables much closer than from Odaiba Seaside Park beach, and the towers of Shibaura and Tokyo Tower rise behind. After sunset the bridge lights come on and yakatabune boats with red lanterns drift by, perfect for long exposures from the ramparts.
