About

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's museum closed its Kyobashi building in September 2025 for redevelopment and reopened on April 24, 2026 on the third floor of the TOC Building in Nishi-Gotanda. It covers the history of Tokyo's police since the force's founding in 1874, with uniforms and equipment through the ages, records of famous cases, and introductions to today's units from riot police to traffic. The hands-on area is the big draw for families: kids can climb into a police helicopter and onto a white police motorcycle, put on child-size uniforms and try a cycling safety simulator. Admission is free; entry may be limited when crowded.
