RAGE is a moody shop three minutes from Nishi-Ogikubo station, with dark walls and a bar feel that suits the neighbourhoods vintage-shop vibe. The signature is shamo soba: a clear shoyu soup made from shamo, a fighting-cock breed with deep, gamey flavour, over thin noodles from Mikawaya Seimen. The broth shifts with the seasons, flavour-changing toppings keep it interesting, and kaedama (extra noodles) is popular. Kombu-water tsukesoba, mazesoba and frequent limited bowls round out the menu, and you pay after eating.
