About

Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo ('This is the police box in front of Kameari Park, Katsushika Ward'), better known as Kochikame, ran for 40 years in Shonen Jump without a single break, a Guinness-recognised record. Its hero, the greedy, scheming but warm-hearted police officer Ryotsu Kankichi, is now honoured by 15 bronze statues around Kameari Station, installed from 2006 onward, together with characters such as Nakagawa, Reiko and Honda. Hunting them down, from the 'welcome' Ryotsu by the north exit to the samba-dancing Ryotsu on the shopping street and the double-peace Ryotsu in Kameari Park, makes for a fun one to two hour walk through a very real slice of shitamachi Tokyo, with Kochikame manhole covers on the way.
