Kinji Harajuku KINJI 原宿店
Harajuku's TikTok-favourite thrift store: racks of affordable used clothing, Japanese and American vintage, Y2K, kimono pieces, where most finds cost a few thousand yen.
About
Kinji has been the budget alternative to Harajuku's pricey vintage boutiques for years, beloved by students and thrift-haul creators. The store, now on the second floor of CUTE CUBE on Takeshita Street, packs in sorted racks of used and vintage clothing, from US college sweatshirts and denim to Y2K pieces, Japanese brands and some kimono and haori. Prices are low by Tokyo standards, with many items in the ¥1,000–¥3,000 range, and stock turns over constantly. It's not curated like the Cat Street boutiques, but that's the point: dig and you'll find something.
Highlights
- Large used-clothing store with most items around ¥1,000–¥3,000
- Vintage US sportswear, denim and band tees
- Y2K and Japanese street-fashion pieces
- Kimono and haori sections at thrift prices
Tips
- The store doesn't offer tax-free shopping, but card payment is accepted
- Weekday afternoons are best, weekends on Takeshita Street are packed
- Check items carefully; used goods aren't returnable
- For curated vintage, continue to Cat Street and Shimokitazawa afterwards
