About

Igusa Hachimangu stands near the source of the Zenpukuji River in a wooded precinct of around 10,000 tsubo, one of the largest shrine grounds in Tokyo. Legend says Minamoto no Yoritomo stopped here to pray for victory, and Ota Dokan is also said to have prayed here. The annual festival is held around October 1, with a portable shrine procession every three years and yabusame horseback archery every five years.
