Yumemai Ohashi Bridge 夢舞大橋
The world's first floating swing bridge: a 940 m arch resting on pontoons that can rotate to open a shipping lane, linking Yumeshima and Maishima.
About
Opened in 2001, Yumemai Ohashi connects the artificial islands of Yumeshima (the Expo 2025 site) and Maishima. Its 410 m floating section rests on two huge steel pontoons and can be swung aside by tugboats to open an emergency shipping channel if the main route is blocked, making it the world's first floating swing arch bridge. The western footpath opened in January 2025 ahead of Expo 2025, so you can now walk or cycle across and see the giant arch overhead and the bay on both sides.
