About

Built in 1995 as the Osaka World Trade Center, this 55-storey tower on the man-made island of Sakishima now houses prefectural offices, and its top floor is a public observatory. A long escalator rises inside a glass tube at the top before you step into the 360-degree glass gallery. Because it sits right on Osaka Bay, the views are different from Umeda and Abeno: container cranes, the Minato Bridge, Tempozans Ferris wheel, USJ, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in the far west and the sun setting behind the Rokko mountains. It is certified as a Japan Night View Heritage site and is a favourite date spot at sunset. It is cheaper and far less crowded than the city-centre observatories.
