About
Umekoji Park was built on a former freight yard and is now the largest open lawn close to Kyoto Station. It holds the Kyoto Aquarium and the Kyoto Railway Museum with its working steam locomotive roundhouse, plus playgrounds, a tram that once ran in the city, and the Suzaku Garden and Inochi no Mori woodland garden (paid). The main lawn is a good place for kids to run around after the museums. Markets and food events are held here regularly.
