About

Run jointly by Kyoto City and Kyoto Prefecture, Kyo Navi is where to start if you have just arrived and are unsure how to tackle Kyoto's notoriously crowded buses. It sits on the second floor of the Kyoto Station Building along the North-South Free Passage that links the Karasuma (north) and Hachijo (south) sides. Staff speak English, Chinese and Korean, and can help with sightseeing routes, transport passes, accommodation questions and event tickets. Racks hold free maps and guides for every corner of the city and prefecture, from Arashiyama to the Sea of Kyoto and Uji. Ask here about less crowded alternatives: staff are encouraged to point visitors to quieter districts and times as part of Kyoto's crowd-management efforts.
