About
Since 1953, wild Japanese macaques on Mt. Takasaki have been fed at a clearing on its lower slope, and today two troops visit, filling the area with monkeys grooming, squabbling and nursing babies at your feet. These are wild animals, not caged: staff explain troop politics and famous individuals in lively talks (Japanese). From the entrance by the coast road, the little Sarukko Rail monorail runs up to the feeding ground. Umitamago aquarium is directly across the road via a footbridge, so the two make a perfect half-day.
